Welcome to Defence xLab. Our goal is to accelerate innovation for Sweden's defence by bringing the right actors together. These guidelines exist so that you can feel confident in your application and understand what it means to be part of our community.
Collaboration from day one
Defence xLab focuses on validation and joint development of solutions to the defence sector's needs. From the moment you are accepted as an allied company (community member), you may be matched with relevant parties and key persons responsible for driving our joint collaboration forward. Our goal is rapid adaptability; projects may therefore look very different depending on the specific needs of the Armed Forces and total defence.
You retain your ownership
Defence xLab is a fully neutral, non-profit organisation. We take no equity in your company and we do not take over your intellectual property (IP). Nor do we charge any fees for participation. Our purpose is to build solutions together with the right actors for specific needs and focus areas, which in turn can open doors for future commercial contracts with our partners and the Armed Forces' ecosystem.
Selection and information sharing
The Armed Forces' needs are paramount:
Our selection is made by multiple parties and is strictly aimed at what is best for Sweden's defence.
Information sharing:
All information submitted to us in connection with the application and participation in our company register may be shared with and evaluated by the Armed Forces as well as industry experts.
Security & Classification:
We follow the Armed Forces' wishes and guidelines. Because we work with defence innovation, different projects may involve different levels of security classification. Specific requirements and information handling are clarified ahead of each individual project.
System of systems
Within the defence sector, no technology stands alone. We are looking for solutions that can be integrated, interoperate and strengthen the whole. Our focus is on contributing to a "system of systems", where your innovation becomes a vital part of a larger, coherent network that protects Sweden.
Expectations on participation
Active engagement:
When you become part of Defence xLab, we expect you to have the will, resources and commitment to participate actively in projects throughout the entire project period.
Concrete collaboration:
The framework and operational details of how we work together are set uniquely for each project based on prevailing needs and security requirements.
